Disable Click and Drag to move?

Sort:

Its been twice now, i just move around the piece to help me visualize and then at some random point, even tho i'm still firmly holding LMB, it drop the piece somewhere i really did not want to let it go..

I dont see the option for click to move only in settings and i've read some people say the opposite, that they can't click and drag because of an addon conflict or such.

Could i disable click and drag to move by making use of that addon conflict or is there an easier way?

This has happened to me a few days ago during a tournament game (on chess.com)  It was aggravating :(  I thought to myself I should not click and hold onto a piece too long from now on ( because it will be dropped somewhere I don't want).    I don't know how else to remedy it.  Good luck.

Two click move is best and thats what i use in all my other games... like chessmaster, they let you move it around but you have to release LMB and then click LMB again to drop it. Best of both worlds imo...

I am still wondering what addon i could install to help with this...

i have lost more games to that than i care to count.

should have to click the square click the destination square .

pieces shold be allowed to be dragged all over to no effect.

right click over the board cancels the first click.

square to square click ...

You just need to click the piece you want to move once, then click the destination square once. Works just fine every time.

There is no need to click and drag. If you do click and drag and cock it up you only have yourself to blame.

No sympathy guys, sorry.  What are you doing moving a piece around to help you visualize?  As much as possible the rules for live chess on chess.com are meant to mirror the rules of OTB where "no artificial aids are allowed".  I'm sure you disagree. Laughing I'll go do a search: Yep, that's pretty much what it says.  I wonder if there isn't some sneaky programming that can tell when you've been moving pieces around "to help you visualize" and punishes you by dropping the piece on a random square.

if you are dragging a peice around to get a better look at the board after the potential move, you can just drag the peice off the board and let go and the peice will go back to where it was.

i've never had it time out and drop when i haven't let go of the clicker. And at that i never let go of the clicker unless im sure, or i have the peice dragged off the board to cancel.

for me it's not the bug, it's the misclicks. i really, really wish i could disable drag and drop piece movement so that each move would require two clicks.

The site added the option recently.

It doesn't disable click and drag.

Drag pieces only is the exact opposite of what we are complaining about here lol

You're right. Normally these posts are about stopping click move and I didn't read it fully.  My guess is if the site add a click only feature, they would completely disable dragging anything
