there would be possibility that his internet connection is not so good...I am suffering from such problem...this problem happens on mobile app...
Disconnect/Reconnect/Cheating

Try clearing your browser cache and limiting your online applications. Here's a good FAQ on things you can do to reduce your lag.

I am interested in what others have to say about this as well, especially, from a Chess.com administrator. I experienced the exact same situation that craveller experienced, and it seemed that my opponent would only disconnect when it was his turn. Thoughts?

Someone on reddit said they thought it may be a sign of someone switch tabs. I dunno. Doesn't matter much though. If you are cheating to beat a 1400 player like myself you've got bigger problems than whether I report you.

There is no doubt there is some cheating going on. I just played against HRFormat & he kept doing it until I called him out on it. He did it almost every move. Can it get any more pathetic than that.
Hey look at that, another 1000 rated patzer accusing other 1000 rated patzers of cheating. LOL!

I have been experiencing something similar. I am playing a 3 day/move correspondance game with someone now (rated game) and for the past 4 or 5 moves he pauses the game and goes on vacation for nearly a week, hense my suspicious attitude towards him. He has now been on vacation for over a month now.
I am pleased to say that I believe the majority of members here are ethical players who do not stoop to such a level of play.
Now, here is how I personally react to my opponent using vacation time as a time advantage. I, too, use MY OPPONENT'S vacation time to my advantage. If he goes on vacation when it's his turn, I simply use that time to calculate as many lines as I possibly can (all the way to the end of the game if his vacation time allows it). Isn't that a "chess" way of answering an opponent who practices such play habits.

yeah, i noticed that when I play someone who disconnects a lot they end up having fantastic moves and analyze everything quite well. Something is going on with the disconnects. It shouldn't equate to a very good player or constant disconnects shouldn't be proportional to player skill and acuity.

This has happened with me multiple times and always against people who are sure to lose. I think there is a cheat to eat up the opponents time

The clients never directly connect and your opponent can't impact your connection.

just happened to me, shows my opponent disconnected and when it was down to 1 second then his move happens and it TIMES ME OUT. and there was some simular games eh had in database
Same here. I'm fed up, really. Complete winning position, plenty of time, opponent has to make a move. And suddenly disconnecting / "reconnecting" till opponent's time is zero. And? I lost! What? Why? And it happens only in winning positions! Random? I don't think so. I think I will quit chess.com.

It doesn't only happen in winning positions but it's certainly more noticable then as you're more invested in the outcome.

I have a poor internet connection, and lots of oher people do too. So no, it is not an indication of cheating. Your opponent's internet probably just blacked out.

Sorry, it never happened in a draw-ish or losing position. The opponent's and my internet was fine. A sudden interruption occurred, my opponent's time ran down to zero, and he gets the rating points. Absurd.

You always have a "Report" button there. If you have some doubts then report them and chess.com will use its latest tools to investigate their past chess games, and stamp whether they are cheaters or not.

Thanks, I did that already. What puzzles me that those opponents get the rating points. For what? And I'm by no means the only person who is annoyed by that.
Hi,
Is constant disconnecting/reconnecting an indication of cheating?
I played someone whose connection was showing green (full bars) in a five minute and who disconnect/reconnect 8 times.
