Mabe it can't be run in "MacBook" mode either and they just don't have the correct error message (an interesting oxymoron BTW)
I suggest you use a search engine to find out which chess programs are compatible with your OS.

I suggest you use a search engine to find out which chess programs are compatible with your OS.
First, download the engine direct from stockfish to get the most up to date release.
Here's the link, just scroll down to the mac osx section.
http://stockfishchess.org/download/
I placed the stockfish download folder, and the stockfish opening book folder in a folder I created in mac osx library/application support/stockfish_chess_engine.
Second, stockfish needs a uci compatible gui, (a graphic interface)
I recommend chessx, it can be downloaded at the following link:
http://chessx.sourceforge.net/?q=node/3
Install it as you would any other application that is downloaded as a dmg.
Dobule click the dmg, run the installer. It installs in Applications.
Run the application, and it should automatically load the stockfish engine.
It's a lot easier than all that terminal garbage I thought I was going to have to go through to get it to run.
I hope this helps,
-Martin
whenever I try and download stockfish from this website it tells me it cannot be run in "DOS mode" I use a MacBook Pro please help
