Fair play vs server error

Hello everyone,

Everytime I wanna start a game, I've been asked to play fair otherwise I'll be limited. I've read the terms and conditions and it's mostly about not getting disconnected on an ongoing game. But I never did such a thing. Wht usually happens in such an unfinished game is Draw by Stalemate. I've attached one screenshot that this time caused by an abortion from the server. It's not fair if I get limited by a problem caused by the server! I started thinking those opponents of mine that disconnected the game before finishing it might ran into this problem.

Does anybody else experienced this problem?

A lot of people disconnect intentionally. Some lose their connections unintentionally. The servers can't tell the difference. The only solution is for you to get a better connection.

Stalemate is actually fairly unusual. If it happens to you a lot when you are doing a mating attack with many pieces against a lone king, you should always think about whether or not your opponent will have a legal move  before making a move that doesn't give check.

I think my connection is good enough, so there is no problem with the internet itself. It might be a problem with the android, the app or something else if it's not the servers but I can't figure it out because the error message is the same. The technical team should be able to track the issue since they have access to the log of the servers.

My concern is I might be limited while I did nothing wrong.

Your connection might be good enough for reaching sites near to you but a connection between you and chess.com may take 10 or more hops. Have you done ping tests and run a traceroute test?

I just ran a traceroute and it said that it takes and up to 11 ms to reach chess.com from the East coast of the US but that it takes 159 ms from Europe and 179 ms from Asia.

I see... I also tried a traceroute and it took 168ms via 11 hops, so the servers are the problem. They need more server around the world for a faster connection.
