Firefox problem with very high ram usage

Hi there
I like to play live chess, especially bullet, but since the upgrade to a new version Firefox is using too much Ram and CPU - only on chess.com so it started to glitch. Any solutions to the problem ?
It is likely an ad that caused the higher load.

Thx for the answer, thought about it I am using blocker - does it relevant ?
I guess that depends on it is being blocked. The ad data would still be sent to the client but wouldn't think it would increase CPU usage too much in that case.

I don't know that much about firefox, so if you can try another browser. I use chrome and it's fine.

agreed. allowing unverified javascript in ads? 2GB RAM and 100%+ CPU in a chess.com browser tab? are they mining freaking bitcoin? unusable.

Pi-hole
it's mostly just the ads. I dislike ads, so there's a solution. It blocks them at a DNS level separate from your computer so you can enjoy the extra speed and RAM

@JAurelius: congratulations on recommending visitors block all chess.com ad revenue, and do it by installing hardware between yourself and the internet that itself has a history of serious vulnerabilities.

A history of very serious vulnerabilities?
Where, When? Bro I've got multiple certs in computers including Linux+ from comptia (of which pi-hole is based off of). Do you have anything productive to say besides complaining about a problem? Oh sure "I've got an I9" is a great argument. I've got a ryzen 9 3900x. Not only that, but I'm running it on an arch linux install.
Ok fine it takes revenue from chess.com. Ok that's great and all, but we're fixing a problem of high cpu usage here. When chess.com gets rid of it you can go back to no ad blocker. You should be more concerned about a problem of data mining or whatever rather than a couple of pennies to a site that is letting these people do that.
