I confirmed this.
Use "Fischer" and then click search - you'll see a few of his games; Use "Fischer Robert J" (note, no commas) and you'll see the bulk of the collection.
It's a shame that chess database player naming was "standardized" so early ... not all cultures place the surname last, and then there's the whole conundrum of which of the names is the "last", "middle", etc, when there are more than the US standard three names. We should be able to search for Robert James Fischer, Fischer, or even Fi and retrieve all of Fischer's records.
Further complicating the issue is that Chess.com's Game Explorer neither follows the existing poor standard nor attempts to correct the error, nor even consistently violates the standard.
I want to search and review games by Bobby Fischer, but when I type in Fischer as player 1 I get a dropdown list that only goes through "Fischer, Franz". Typing in various possibilities (Fischer, Robert; Fischer, Bobby; etc.) results in "Player 1 not found" results.
Any ideas?
