Game wont allow me to make next move

I've been playing my first game. About 25 moves in now my opponent moved but i an not allowed to make any move (on my phone) It just buzzes when i try like - no you cant move that piece or any piece - What's up? How can i free this up and make my next move? - dsybot

You are either in check or trying to move into check or make some other illegal move.
