When did this first start happening and did anything upload or was anything added to your pc just prior to this issue?

Do you have JavaScript enabled on your browser settings?

Have you checked any other browser to see if its still happening?

Are you using a home pc or a work/shared computer?

fhwee

Am using home pc.Nothing was added. This happened about 6  hours ago.Yes. Went to Mozilla Firfox. It was the same, so I deleted Firefox. I am aware that Java script is in the system. Whether it was enabled or disabled, how do I go about checking. Am so sorry, I am lost when talking about computers. So I uninstalled Google chrome, and re-installed again. The same problem.

As i am at kindergarten level, please tell me how to sort this out. Thanks for your time.

To:- Kohai,

PLEASE EXCUSE ME.  I have to sign off as it is 0415 hours here in Singapore. I am very tired. When I wake up, I will know that you would have told me how to solve this problem. Thanks again.

To:- Kohai,

JAVA Plug-in 1.60-26 is enabled. JAVA (tm) Plug-in 2SSV Helper and JQSIEStart Detector Impl. Class are disabled. Cleared all cookies. Pressed Ctrl and F5 together, still problem persists.

OK, try this:

1) Go to www.google.com/chrome and install the latest version of the chrome browser. If you have done that already while reinstalling your chrome browser, ignore this.

Then,

2)Go to this page:

http://java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp

If you are not using the latest version of Java, one or two yellow bars should appear in your chrome browser, that says:

update plug in and/or install plug in

Click on them both and follow the steps to update and/or install. Once your java is updated, restart your browser and try live and online chess again.

Another thing might be your firewall. Do you have a firewall, and if yes, which one? Have you tried disabling it and trying again? It's not recommended to completely uninstall your firewall, but if the chess pages work without it, then it means you should change something in the preferences of the firewall.

To:- Philidor -POSITION,

mANAGED TO GET THROUGH.Was very doubtful, as it contains a warning"This type of file can harm your computer.Do you want to keep chromeinstal-6u27exe. anyway".Anyway I tried, and it looks like more than 45 minutes, still download not complete. And 3 parts could not be downloaded, and was advised to delete. Still the whole process has not been  downloaded yet.

Thanks so much for helping out. I remembered you. You helped me the first time I got into this type of jam. How now, what can I do to rectify the situation ??. Shall I try again to try to download java6u27 ??

To:-Philidor-POSITION,

yES. i have  FIREWALL INSTALLED BY nORTON

philidorposition

OK. Let's try this without all the downloads first.

1) Open your chrome browser. Click on the tool icon next to your address bar and go to Options.

2) Click on "Under the Hood"

3) Click on "Content Settings..."

4) On that page, find JavaScript, and make sure "Allow all sites to run JavaScript" is selected.

If it weren't selected, select it yourself, clear your cache and cookies, restart the browser and try chess.com.

If all this doesn't work, now, let's try disabling your firewall. Try to quit Norton completely. ALL NORTON applications. Close them. If it doesn't allow you to close them, restart your computer and boot windows in safe mode with network enabled and try chess.com there.

After disabling all Norton applications, restart your browser and try the chess.com pages again.

If this doesn't work too, you simply have to download all the files on that link, install java and all the necessary plug-ins. Don't worry, the files on that link are safe, they are from the official java page.

To:-Philidor_position,

Have done all as advised, except downloading all files to chess.com. Java 6u27 installed . The Chess board still remained BLANK. I do not know how to download all files to Chess.com.

My many thanks to you, for the time, effort, and patience. Now I do not know what else to do.

philidorposition

Are you positive that:

1) You downloaded the latest java plug-in for Chrome, installed it, cleared your browser's cookies and temp files, and finally restarted your computer and tried live and online chess?

2) You made sure that java is enabled in chrome options?

3) Have tried live and online chess after disabling your Norton firewall completely?

4) Have tried live and online chess in windows safe mode?

If you're still having problems:

When you next go into computer chess, look on the bottom right corner of your monitor. Can you click on the java icon then Open Control Panel.

Once this is open, use the bottom box where it says 'Settings'  - when that new box opens, click where it says 'delete files'.

Then OK

Once you've done this, refresh the page.

Sometimes the java icon is turned off from appearing in the tray.  If you're running windows....

Start button/Control Panel/Java/Advanced/Miscellaneous/check box "Place icon in system tray"

Also try clearing your cache, and even your java cache. see: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/plugin_cache.xml

To:-Philidor_position.

Have doen the 4 things, you mentioned. I am perplexed as to how I could access java icon, as there is nothing at right hand bottom of page.As to http://www.java.com/en/download/help/plugin_cache.xml., how and where to start. The whole page showed an example, but there is nothing to indicate hwo and where to start to click.

Had already installed the latest java6u27 and 7.0, and also uninstalled the older version. Now these are currently in the  system whether at I.E. or Google Chrome I am not sure. Please get back to me. Thanks again.

fhwee

To:-Philidor_position,

Went to I.E. and clicked on java icon to access the control panel.Done according to instructions. Next went to Chrome to test whether I have latest java installed and working. Version is java se7.Now where is the problem coming from ??

ChessisGood

Try downloading another type of browser other than Google Chrome. Chrome is still in the development stage, so it has many bugs. For a PC, I would suggest Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. For a Mac, Opera or Safari should do. Hope it helps!
