I would also appreciate such possibility somewhere in the settings, but that's not gonna happen, I guess. For now, I will just tell Russian players in the chat that I don't wanna play them and I'll offer a draw. If they decline, I will just commit suicide with my king or spoil the game in some creative way. I think this is the right way to let them know what we think about their idiotic war. We should not let them sit, play chess with us and feel OK, while children are being killed by cluster munitions and ballistic missiles, while hospitals are being razed on daily basis, and so on.

It’s not the Russian citizens it’s Putin.

you cannot. most russians have already changed their flag because no-one will play them.

best to avoid this site completely because it has done little to support Ukraine against the sick russains.

I know that. Even chess players are telling Putin to stop the war.

They are our brothers and teachers 👨‍🏫 in Ajedrez ♟ don’t blame all the Citizens of CCCC ( con Colombia casi perdemos ) 😂 for the consequences of others sob 😭

There is no option.

Just because somebody has the russian flag does not mean they support the war.

Most citizens don't want the war at all, and forums like these just critizize the russian as a whole and not just putin

Unless your opponent says "I support Putin" or is Karjakin  , don't care where your opponent is from .

Two points: Firstly, not all Russians support this war. A large number of Russian chess players, including Ian Nepomniatchi signed an open letter to Putin calling for an end to the war. Secondly, if you really want to avoid Russian players, you could try aborting games against them, although this could lead to consequences as described here.

The site does not have a way to prevent members from playing members based in self reported flags.
