How do I edit an analysis position after loading it?

I went to Analysis and used Setup to set up a position I wanted to analyze, but I accidentally made it the wrong player's turn. I can't find a way to switch this without starting the whole setup over. Is there a way to re-edit the position from where it currently is, instead of starting over?

Edit the post, click the inserted diagram so it's selected, click the insert diagram button, and you'll be able to edit.

There's no post, I just want to be able to change whose turn it is on the board that I'm looking at in Analysis mode.

Sorry, misread that. No, you can't edit it. But you can copy out the FEN of the position, start a new analysis, paste that FEN in and change the side to move before you load it.

For example: 8/8/5k2/8/8/3R1K2/8/8 w - - 0 1

That is with White to move. Change the w to b

8/8/5k2/8/8/3R1K2/8/8 b - - 0 1

and it is black to move.

Awesome, that did the trick! Thanks a ton!

This is honestly so frustrating. I frequently set up positions to show someone, and maybe I do a mistake, e.g. put a pawn on the wrong square. Then I have to create a new analysis board and manually set up the position again - because there's no edit button????

You can copy the FEN of the position, start a new analysis, click Setup, click Advanced, and paste in the FEN. Then move pieces around as needed.

I created a formal suggestion to have an edit option that would automate that process.

That makes it slightly more convenient, thanks!

While we're talking about this, why do boards never load in the first time you try to post them?

I had a similar issue and found this page. I was looking for a way to edit a single piece if accidentally misplaced in the analysis board. I found out now, by chance, that you can eliminate a single piece by clicking on a piece and moving it to the "side" of the board. I hope this helps.

Hello-stupid-little-boi

thank you
