I know what you mean and I could not find any solution for that too. The highlight squares are not saturated similar to what streamers have. I don't know why!
the solution is only in Live Chess you can get that highlighted dark color square. You can play tournaments / live games from that and have dark square. I think you just have to enable premoves ..
It seems that only in live chess (when you stream your game) the squares are more saturated. In the regular games, it's just the washed-out red.

For some reason the live chess vs the normal play chess is different. Different colors and the livechess pieces/board is somewhat blurry in comparison.
I've been seeing Streamers highlight squares in bright red instead of the washed out normal red. The bright red also gets used in some of the computer matches (namely when pieces are threatened).
Is there a way to highlight pieces with this vibrant red?
