How to complain

Sort:
achintyads

During a match, my opponent made abusive comment through chat box. Is there any way to make complaint? And is there any way to recall the chat during the game? Thanks

from Help and Support  (a link on the bottom

of every page on this site):

My opponent said some very abusive and

rude things.

What should I do?

Please report the abuse here! Abusive language will result in that

player being warned or banned depending on the severity.

/Do your best to recall what was said. I don't think there is any way

to recover chat from our side.  (I think they can recover it but right

now I can't imagine how much space that would require.)

Boogalicious

If they start abusing, then just ''disable chat''.

I have a game that doesn't seem to be able to end.  My opponent has run out of time in a lost position, but a notation of 'a few minutes' seems to have locked the game.  She will not make a move, even though she haS no time left.  How do I bring this game to a conclusion?

There is live support in one of the chat windows for Live Chess.

This doesn't look like current policy. The current policy makes it clear that there are too many idiots around to bother trying to ban:

Chess.com is a global community of chess players and while 99% of our members are wonderful, you may occasionally find somebody who is rude or offensive. We obviously cannot police everything on the site, so we provide tools for you to manage your relationships with other users. If someone offends you, here is what you should do:

Please DO NOT send reports for issues you can handle yourself by simply disabling chat. Thank you!

In other words, "DO NOT" bother us when someone abuses you. There are too many for us to deal with and we haven't got the time. Just disable the chat function.

I'm sorry, is that supposed to be a jibe at me?

Is your comment sapose to be a jab at staff?   Actually, I prefer the Franciscans.  Even the Jesuits did SOMETHING to help.

What type of game is it? I've had similar happen before - a few times.. and each time (knowing that the actual game time had run down already) I just closed the app and reopened it, and checked my history and saw that the games were indeed won by me on time.  In those cases, i surmised that it was a problem on my end (I was "connected" to the live server, but for some reason in the final few seconds my app stopped updating...

That's the standard message that is given when a game is aborted - the restriction it refers to is that if you abort too many games, the matching algorithm starts pairing you up more often with other people who also abort a lot.

The occasional abort won't tip you into this pool - I'm not sure what the threshhold is, but I'm sure he'll be fine.

abedottychess

ok thank you!

abedottychess

so much

abedottychess

here is the rule

abedottychess

Aborting games too often will temporarily suspend your ability to abort games. This means that if you cannot play, you will have no choice but to resign (or risk further sanctions described above, by abandoning your game or disconnecting). If you have to abort, then do so of course, but whenever possible, use the features available to minimize your need to abort chess games!

Do not Abort games if your opponent will not move at the beginning of a game: The server will do it for you!

On his or her turn, each player has 15-20 seconds to make their first move. If this does not happen, the game will be automatically aborted. This has a negative effect on the Fair-Play record of the player failing to move. (But if you hit Abort, it affects your record! It's best to be patient for a few seconds.)

Do not Abort games to find preferred opponents: Restrict your challenges and/or filter the Seek graph instead!

Don't just hit Start Game and hope for the best! If you are not willing to play anybody, click on the "Rating Options" link and configure your challenge to get a game you will really want to play.

I was playing a game of chess and there was an inturupting in service! I ended up loosing because I could not make a move before service was restored. I would like to know what chess.com will do to reverse this unfare result! The following is the text associated with the game - REMWMBER, I had no chance to move before it was announced that I had lost! Please look into this! TimIvanov has disconnected.
