How to swap/change sides when playing a bot

Is it possible to swap/change sides when playing a bot?

Earlier I was doing some puzzles and I wanted to finish playing the position shown in one of them.

I clicked download and copied the FEN, then I opened Analysis, clicked Setup, and pasted the FEN into its box. I clicked Load and then Finish vs Computer. All well and good.

Now I can see how to change the bot but it automatically assigns me to play black and the bot white and I want to play the other way around.

Surely I can achieve this, but how?

Many thanks from a new member.

yeah, when you create game you can toggle the settings, its hard to explain or in analysis in set up you can click swap sides or even directly click play with bot

Well I have just spent 10 minutes trying to see how to change sides or specify the sides after loading the FEN in analysis and far longer than that earlier today and I can't see how to do it.

Could someone explain the exact steps I need to take please?!

Hit New Game and Rematch

Thanks Martin.

It is a strange piece of design. Hitting New Game and Rematch swaps the colours the players are playing. Having lost to a bot from the puzzle position, to retry playing the same colour required selecting New Game and Rematch and then selecting New Game and Rematch a 2nd time.

on https://support.chess.com/article/684-how-can-i-play-the-computer-from-a-custom-position

Title "Play from a position in one of your games"

it says A) "Open the game and go to the point where you’d like to start playing against the computer.

B) Once you’re in the game you want, click on the ‘analysis’ or 'game report' button:

C) Play through the moves until you get to the desired position, then click on the ‘finish versus computer’ button:

D) You will then be able to play the game from that point, but versus the computer!

E) Remember it will always be your turn to play when you click on vs computer, so if you want to play as black, make sure it is black's turn when you click!

THIS DOES NOT WORK.   Some feedback comments ref A.B.C, etc above
Step "C" We already set the desired position in step "A"

Step "E" this is what I want to do. BUT if I set white as next to move - I am white (ok). If I set black as next to move, the computer automatically moves black and im still white!!

Can somebody please fix or explain this better (and amend the support text).

Yes I'm having trouble with this also. I've tried the methods mentioned and haven't managed to figure it out yet

Things have changed now. You can only switch sides when you are using the Practice vs Computer option from an unfinished game, analysis board, tactic, etc.

When you do that you'll have a new icon at the bottom of the move list called Switch Sides

Thanks so much Martin. I had overlooked that as the 'conditional move' setting. Really appreciate the response
