I want to change my username, but it won't be accepted

It was the username I originally wanted to call myself, but it was denied in spite of being avaliable: 'Bakkestaffen' A nickname to parts of my real name. Why isn't this accepted? Does it contain some profanity in a foreign language or something?

What exactly does the message say when you try?

Actually, probably has to do with the inclusion of staff in the username.

There are people in Norway with that surname.

The message I get is the same as the one you get when you write in a taken username.

I see you're a mod. Could you fix it?

Moderators don't have that ability. You might be able to ask staff, but the English translation seem to come out as "ground staff" so that may not be something they'll do if. It's also possible the name filter applies to back-end name changes.
