IOS App Issues

Recently I've been unable to login to my chess.com app on my iPhone.  It's worked fine for years, until recently.  When I type in my username, or email, and password, I get a message that says, "Couldn't Log In... We were unable to create your account. Please contact support to resolve this issue."  

I went to help, but nothing happens when I click on the "ask a question" or "report a bug" links. 

The software on my iPhone is up to date (IOS 14.3) and I've uninstalled it, rebooted my phone, etc.  All the usual first steps.

My login works fine on my laptop.  This is frustrating!  Any help is appreciated.

It sounds like you are trying to log in through a new account page, not the login page. (Which would be why it would be trying to create an account...)

Exact same issue, and I definitely used the Login and not the create account on my phone. The only thing I can think of is I got lazy and used the google login on my desktop.

Like MaffO73, I too am using the login page.  It's the app on my phone that I've been using for years.  I rarely have to even sign in.  It's never been an issue until recently.  I've sent an email to chess.com tech support. Hopefully they'll shed some light on what's going on. When that happens I'll post the response here.

Okay, so I figured it out.  I've recently installed a vpn app on my phone, which for some reason, doesn't allow me to login to the app if it's connected.  The work-around is disconnecting the vpn app, login to chess.com and then connect the vpn again.  Kind of a pain, bc I like to have the vpn on in public, but at least it figured out the culprit.

Hmmm. . . I'm having the same probelem tonight. I haven't had to log in to my iPhone (chess.com app, not website) in years, but for some reason logged me out tonight and it's not letting me log in. I logged out and back in on my laptop, password all set, but iOS app is funky. and I do not use a vpn. And tried multiple WiFi (my house, my office, my sister's house/wifi) as well as my 5G connection. Nothing works. Help?

OK, so I deleted app, redownloaded and was then able to login . . . using v 3.9.17 (1) of the iOS app. Same version before I deleted the app and after I redownloaded. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. (using iPhone 12 Pro Max and iOS 14.4)

IOS app has caused my diamond membership to not be applied and it's been like 5 days, anyone know how much longer it would be

Same issue. The VPN was the problem. Followed AmbushKing's advice and works perfectly!
