iPad/iPhone Live Chess Problem

I am a new member of Chess.com and am having problems with my iPhone and iPad apps when I try to play live chess. I can play live chess from my laptop using my Explorer browser but when I try to play live chess from either of my Apple devices I get a message "connecting" but they never "connect."

Since joining Chess.Com several weeks ago I've now been able to connect to the server for Live Chess ONE TIME from my iPad.  I am convinced there is something wrong with the iPad app. From the iPad app online chess section I can maneuver my way to getting a screen that looks just like the standard Chess.com home screen. From that screen I ALWAYS can play live chess. Incidentally, I maneuver to this screen by selecting "stats" from the online screen and then "full stats" from the stats summary screen.

I also have not been able to find any way to dialog with chess.com about my iPad issues.

Have you updated your iPhone app? Live chess is supported natively - you don't need to go there through the browser!

As far as I know I have the latest iPhone/iPad Chess.com apps. There is no indication of an update being available. I have not accessed Chess.com via my iPhone or iPad browsers. All of the above reported experiences have been from using the apps, not the browsers.

Click on the Play Live button from the app homepage. You don't need to go through the stats page.

That is what I'd love to do if I could ever get something other than a black rectangular box with "connecting" or "reconnecting" and a spinning dial within it. Again, the only reason I've gone through the stats page is to be able to play "live" chess. I do not have any problems with "online" chess, only with "live."

walt, what you are not understanding is that the way you are getting to live chess is incorrect. it will not work. 

you need to go to the main HOME screen, and then click on the big "Play Live" button. if you don't see a Play Live button, then you need to upgrade your app.

I guess I'm having trouble explaining my situation. Whether I try to go to live chess from the iPad app home screen or from the "live chess" bar on the online page, the results are the same as I've described above.

I will be glad to do so if I can figure out a way to do so. I've been able to do such on my PC, but I'm not sure how to do so on my iPad 2. Incidentally, I've tried a couple of things to see if they make a difference, including signing on directly w/o coming in via Facebook and paying for a week of membership to see if somehow ads were involved. I'm also going to try to delete and reinstall the iPad 2 app and see if that makes any difference.

Wahoo! Delete and reinstall did it! I can now connect to the server. I've done so and just completed a game. I can sign off of the live server and then connect again. I appreciate your efforts to help me resolve this.  Regards, Walt
