is playing self while playing daily chess considered cheating?

When I played my first daily chess game, I set my chess board up on the table and duplicated the moves as they were played. Then when I needed to play out some possibilities, I would do that on the real chess board, until I was satisfied with the move I wanted. I think that’s ok to do in rated daily chess, right? But then I wanted the convenience of doing the same thing only using chess.com, by setting up a game to play against myself, and keeping referring back to it to duplicate each move as in the real game, and playing out possibilities there. I turned off all computer assist or analysis so that I received no help by the computer, other than just using the playing board to pre-make moves of my own choosing. Is this ok to do in rated daily chess?

Although I had tried to find FAQs or rules on this cheating subject before posting the above question, I have now found the rule explanation and that there is a special forum for discussing the cheating topic and that it’s not supposed to be discussed in open forum, so now -> is there a way to delete a forum post one has already made? I don’t see anyway to do it.. seems you should be able to delete your own post. Also the rules need to be easier to find! A direct link from the main menu. Maybe desktop is different but mobile navigation isn’t the greatest on this site.

In a daily game, do you see the button with a chessboard and magnifying glass? That button is for self analysis which is OK and legal for daily chess. Self analysis is when you move pieces and check moves by yourself. It’s always been allowed for correspondence chess even before computers.

As always computer analysis is not allowed while a game is being played.

Cool.. I just discovered that today! Thanks for replying. That’s a whole lot easier than tracking with a separate board.. :-)

The first rule in that link:
“No chess programs or engines (e.g. Chessmaster, Fritz, Komodo, Houdini, Stockfish, Chessbase with any active UCI engine, etc.) can be used to analyze positions in ongoing games at any time.”
Should be reworded to be a little clearer:
“Chess programs or engines (e.g. Chessmaster, Fritz, Komodo, Houdini, Stockfish, Chessbase with any active UCI engine, etc.) can NOT be used to analyze positions in ongoing games at ANY time.

No help of any kind is allowed for live chess. It’s like OTB chess.

No self analysis, no books, no opening databases/explorer.
