It's not impossible, but it's extremely unlikely, and anyone who has the knowledge and is willing to take the risk isn't going to bother finding some dumb kid's IP address, they're going to steal credit card info.
Is your Ip safe in Chess.com?

Your computer never talks to your opponent's computer. Even if you were to use a tool such as Wireshark to monitor your network traffic, you would never be able to see your opponent's IP address.
Not even moderators like me can see your IP address. Only staff can.

So what you're saying is Your Ip isn't safe in Chess.com?
You don't even know what you're asking so it's hard to answer... I guess just keep it simple... the answer is yes, it's safe.

so you are saying that staff know where we live?

Every website knows what IPs are connecting to them.
IP doesn't contain your street address.

And what does your IP do?
unplug, reply your Wi-fi router. Bingo, new IP!
(Mostly)
in addition, my IP is registered in kensington and Chelsea. I do not live there.
Tl;dr you cannot “hack” an IP

Chess.com staff - just like the staff of every other website - can see what IP address you come from. They do not make that information public. Not even moderators can see that.
Your IP address will usually give your approximate location, generally down to a specific city or town.
To narrow it down from that to your street address would require getting that information from your internet service provider - and they don't share that information except for something like a criminal investigation (i.e. your ISP would help the police know who you are if they're investigating a crime you committed online, but they won't tell a random website).

Sorry good sir, What I'm trying to ask is what you just said . "Is your IP safe in this website" I asked the question because the guy who used to my friend thinks I hacked the website and found his IP then tracked his exact location, When in fact I just guessed it due to many factors such as Express VPN having a VPN based on his city & a few friends of mine (on a certain gaming community) Is familiar with the place and or live there.

"I don't know if this website is safe because my friend thinks I hacked it when I didn't"
This logic makes no sense.

lmao jurong city? do you know how big singapore is my guy?
Very Sorry again in my previous Reply I said this is Because Many friends of mine knew of that place and Express VPN has a VPN based on that location i thought, yes it must be one of the popular cities. Never been there , Its just the place that i hear a lot about from friends. And Express VPN having a VPN based there gave me that idea.

Very Sorry sir, Again I apologize for this. I really do. But I only made this Thread to prove to my friend that what he's saying is Highly Impossible and that he's probably just overly Cautious or Paranoid.
Basically, to show him, he's overreacting.

It's an internet site, so there is always the possibility someone could find your IP.
It's not 100% safe on chess.com, but of course i doubt the chess.com staff would admit this.
There are still the standard problems of people sending you otherwise safe links that actually take you to a website that uncovers ur data and gives it to the person u sent the link to.
This actually happened to me on chess.com like 4-5 years ago, back when i didnt know about this.
Bottom line, don't assume anything on the internet is safe, because it's not. Your computer, your IP, your programs, all are data that exists on your hard drive, or on your phone if ur using that, it can always be accessed by someone who has the tools.
Don't be stupid.

Well, if you click on a link that takes you off the site, that's not chess.com, that's another site. Chess.com has no control over anything off-site. Be careful with links to other sites.

What about advertising links in chess.com?
Will it affect me if I click on the advertising links on chess.com that leads to another site?
I think I must contact Unit 8200.

What are those 'tools'? Can you tell us some of them?
It seems you have a good idea about those 'tools'. Please tell us also. We want to learn new things.

My old Friend claimed that I had him doxxed or / hacked to see his IP ADDRESS because i was able to correctly guess where what city he lives in Singapore. from my experience i Know a couple of Singapore People who happened to live in that same place he does And it doesn't take a genius to attempt to guess it. That city just happened to be one of the TOP 3 cities in their country, not only that but Express vpn has a VPN based on Jurong (the city i guessed)
He had me blocked and said I hacked chess.com and found out where he lived.(which i think is absolutely Absurd, and Impossible, because i think Chess.com has the ability to secure your ip no matter what but i am not sure) where I just jokingly guessed where he did.
I Deny this Accusation of his.
I'm not sure but is your ip really safe here? Is there no way for your opponent can find out your IP by hacking the website or using a program in here. Or was my old friend just overly paranoid?
I can barely install Windows 10 to my system let alone hack Chess.com and find out your IP
I know im right, that Its impossible to get such and info and even if you do so that's technically ILLEGAL
anyways all i wanna know is if you're safe here, You and your IP is safe at Chess.com's hands
To prove him Once and for all that What he is saying is false
