When I logged into chess.com today, I found a warning as shown below. Does this mean chess.com is unsafe?

i think there is problem in your antivirus settings. not more than that.

Find the alleged malware by using Windows Explorer and run a virus scan on it. You could also try typing allinfree.net into a search engine and see what you come up with. And you could also go to a more authoritative and reliable forum that this one for malware info, if you knew how to use search engines.

Next time try telling those of us who aren't mind readers what OS/version you're using, what browser/version you're using and in this case what anti-virus software and firewall you're using. I use Google Chrome 16 with Windows XP SP3 and never got the message you got which BTW can't even be read in its entirety since part of it is covered up with the "most recent posts" box or didn't you think the entire message was necessary for us to read?

You might want to hide in a closet or under a bed until it goes away.

I googled allinfree.net and I found a link to a forum http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic438355.html where someone reported Google Chrome saying every site had something to do with allinfree.net. Does this problem occur with every (or most) sites you visit or just chess.com?

Most likely this is a problem with your own computer since no one else is experiencing such issues.

I'm kinda curious - how do you know none of the other FOUR MILLION members are or are not experiencing such issues? Not all of them may bother posting a comment about it here and not all of them are fluent in english. Granted, if this was a major problem we'd probably see dozens or maybe hundreds of posts on it but the lack thereof doesn't automatically mean this is a single isolated incident.

On the other hand, at least you're trying to be helpful which is more than can be said for DrSpudnik

Actually, I think the problem is with google chrome. From the past 2 weeks, its showing the same image as posted in my first post for every site I visit (including google.com). I have to press on "proceed anyway" option to continue browsing each time. It doesn't happen with other browsers, but I'm accustomed to chrome...

I don't know how this started happening all of a sudden. and don't know how to stop this. Any help would be thanked.

The simplest solution sad to say for you at least is to start using Firefox instead just for chess.com and keep on using Chrome elsewhere if you don't like FF.

You can also try uninstalling and re-installing Chrome this is a standard fix for all sorts of software problems - not always helpful but an easy fix when does work.

rajatsharma4

ok I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling chrome.

As soon as I go to allinfree.net my antivirus says it's an infected website. If others are not having the problem I would have to agree with fzweb that rajatsharma4 probably has some malware on his machine that adds some connection to allinfree.net to this and possibly other websites he visits.  Try scanning your machine for malware.
