Matching with random people

I am trying to play a chess game with my friend. But even when I pick rematch from our most recent game it matches me with a random person instead of my friend.
They have tried making a new game with me and they were also matched with a random person.
I get same behavior even when choosing unrated.
Any help is appreciated.

This is happening to me also, from the iOS app but not the desktop. It's also copied my chats with friends into the games with random people. HELP
I am on Android, haven't tried Desktop. very frustrating 😡.

Same thing happening to me from android. Trying to rematch my brother and getting random games started from people I don't know. App seems to be creating open challenges instead of with specific people. Even when I try to challenge my brother directly not through rematch I am getting responses from random people.

Hi guys. This is how rematch has been behaving for a LONG time. I avoid clicking rematch if I want to play again against my last competitor. what I do is create a new game and choose chess.com friend, and find my friend bmthe list. Then issue change. If you click rematch you are going to get a 'random' rematch.

The safest is to just click new game and setup things as if you were doing it from scratch.

I got caught just like you guys! It is logical to think that "rematch" means one will replay against the same competitor. But for some reason-I have no idea why-it does not work like that at present. Maybe if a customer support person is reading this post thread they can give some input.
