Meebo

So, since meebo getting added loads of people have switched off the chat bar for various reasons. The biggest problem being that it slows the site down too much. 

Now I am not alone in this as now I have had numerous friends telling of the site keep crashing, vote chess games crashing, server taking too long to load the site, amongst the many issues we are all having. 

I still believe this is the best chess site on the internet but when are Erik and the rest of chess.com staff going to admit that having this meebo running on the site is causing huge problems and actually remove it??

I think it is usefull in fast vote chess etc.....but i would like possibility to turn it off so it is not even shown on screen

You can switch it off in your preferences.

I like the idea of Meebo, but I'm starting to realize that maybe it shouldn't be on this site for the exact reasons you posted, Donna. I've never seen the site act this way before.

Doing a Disk Clean up does help a bit though.

I cleared my browsing history, deleted the cookies and cleared the cache then restarted my computer and it is STILL lagging big time. 

Try Defragmenting, fixing your registry...AND FULL ANTIVIRUS AND SPYWARE SCAN

Hello? My computer gets a full scan every single day and you cannot tell me it is just my computer when 100's of members from all over the world are experiencing the same problems

I have no problem...only thing that is slow to me it is Game Explorer...takes time to laod positions...

I dont know why some people got problems. Maybe they are using old internet explorer...I got Mozzila firefox (it is free newest version)and it is working great...

Maybe some got slowre internet connections....maybe aliens did it

I used to think, Maybe it's just me. But now I see its happening to everyone, even you Premium members.

This kind of reminds me of when the M-16 assault rifle was first used. The soldiers were told that it was so advanced that it would never jam and they wouldn't need cleaning kits. That false statement costed lots of lives. Later they made the new M-16 with improvements and a cleaning kit. Later it was nicknamed the sweet 16.

I guess I'm just saying I don't want to give on Meebo just yet. But if it still sucks in the future, its got to go.

Just because a handful of people don't have any problems doesn't mean the problem does not exist

Just saying that maybe you can fix it without help form chess.com......chess.com suggested using mozzila that is why i mentioned it....some web sites work better with mozzila ans some with explorer....

What kind of internet connection you guys (and others) got adsl, high speed slow,satelite....?

High speed broadband.
