i did nothing wrong but i was muted.

I was analyzing a position in live analysis board with my friend and i suddenly got system message that i have been muted for 60 min without assigning any reason. Whats this?

The auto filter checks for a list of unacceptable words and warns and/or mutes on that basis. It looks like "period" is on that list, and although you used in an innocent context, the auto filter doesn't understand that, hence its action. Sorry about that - try to avoid using that particular term in the future.

We have to put a stop to this madness.  A full stop.  A period.  Will chess.com provide a thesaurus meanwhile?

It's  udderly  rediculous

I was wondering if there is permanent mute, I have a friend who I haven't been able to live chat for over a year now. He doesn't seem to be bothered by it but I kinda do lol...Is there a option for this person to be unmuted to friends?? Would be kinda nice to be able to talk to him with all that's going right now.

Thanks Forward. Have a nice day! Cheers!

Yes, there is a permanent mute if someone doesn't contact the Support team and commit to obeying the Terms of Service ongoing. The new Connect -> Chat function doesn't seem to be affected by someone's muting, although I'm not sure if that's just if you're already in an existing chat with them.

Thanks forward! Cheers!

In the case @david is mentioning, it is a site chat mute that can be an extended mute that will normally only be removed by staff by opening a ticket.

i didnt do anything wrong in the past month and i havent been salty. swearing, etc. but in one game i didnt say anything until when i tried to say something, it said "you are not able to chat in this room."

then it happened every time in every game and it seems like im permanently muted for NO REASON. please unmute me. This is the same problem i had with @MaryamAhmad64.

I don't see that you are muted now.

In bughouse, In order to tell your opponent an urgent message saying "I need a pawn" or "Stall" using the emoticons, you probably will click it a few times. However, each click counts as one message, which creates a problem. If you send 5 of them in under 1-2 seconds, you get warned. Do it again, Muted immediately. I think Chess.Com should change the code, letting the emoticons not count as messages. (Or at least lower the spam filter a bit)

wait why is saying "period" not allowed

Totally_Winsome

Yeah that's par for the course, I've done nothing at all wrong, said nothing unfriendly ever to anyone, and yet, I have been muted here too.  Chess.com has no customer service that I know of and I've been playing here for more than a decade.

SeneGimmons

i'm muted and the only possible wrong thing i did was to type "good game" 5 times and it's been already 24 hours. it's not even something inappropriate, isn't 24 hours enough? i'm new

Chess.com has very unfair moderation. People can just say you were abusive and they believe them.  I've never been abusive either, not ever,  and yet I'm perma muted. on players walls.  People leave me nice messages about how much they enjoyed playing with me on my wall, and I cannot return the favor, thanks to chess.com moderation. for muting me  I and I know of no way to resolve the situation either.   So you're not alone.  SO there's that.  The whole moderation trip is childish, really, if somebody says something you don't want to listen to, you just mute the chat, don't need moderation.

The site doesn't just take a report or reporter at their word. They look at previous history and check into it as well.

You can disable your own chat.

I got muted for posting scientific facts about covid/vaccine from top scientists. It happened to not gel with the establishment political narrative so of course chess.com prostrated themselves before their deep state overlords and muted me.
