I assume Chess.com offers no offline play mode since there's no mention under Answers.  Please confirm, and suggests a way to fix the jones for the rare moments one is without telecommunications service.  Danke.

On the apps you should be able to play against the bots. Or if you just want to be able to make moves, the Pass and Play feature would work.

Looking for any offline on laptop.   If a phone can do it, no reason a PC can't.

Since it's a website, there isn't an offline option.

You would need to grab a standalone application. There are a lot out there to choose from.

Feels like this belongs in a collection of short quotes. The book would be ironically titled:

"The joys of tech support."

Pls recommend a standalone app for Windows 10.  Thx.

I'm sure others will have suggestions from recent decades, but an old program I like is winboard. The engine it comes with is pretty tough, so maybe not what you're looking for. It's sort of 2000 strength ("sort of" meaning typical engine silliness of mixing occasional positional blunders with occasional tactical precision).

So my quarry is not so trivially cornered as some flippant prose here suggests.

How to play multiplayer offline

Macboyilija

There is a solution for this. Just select play against the computer. Then scroll down to type game (standard, chess 360 etc). Chose custom setting.  Reset the board. And now you can play yourself or against someone on the app. And you even have the big board!

Dooms00

Go to https://www.chess.com/settings/live and go to "Friends Alerts" and switch it to "None".

Chess. com calls Draws prematurely e.g., when continued play is still viable and long before 50 moves have been exhausted in trying to checkmate a computer opponent

If a draw was flagged, it was a draw by one of the rules of chess:
https://support.chess.com/en/articles/8572743-how-do-draws-work

If you think one of those wasn't reached, did you save the game or have a copy of the PGN?

jbooth1018

No I did not save the game, but I'm sure you're right, apologies, Jack
