opening explorer missing games

This explains why the bullet games are not included.

This probably explains why many are not included.
well.. nope, since I almost have no games shorter than 5|0 and very few 960. Also I have seen this before as an answer - but this does not solve my problem or answers my question...
So unless I have more than 50% of my games with less than 4 moves (which I seriously doubt) then something else is wrong

Another weird thing: if I play few games on the app (let's say like 5 games) and then get into my explorer on my computer it has a banner saying "importing recent games" and after a while I get like about 100 games added.. so if I had to guess I would say chess.com imports the games into the explorer only if you use the explorer and there are NEW games that are not there and that process probably times out after a while due to connection or whatever reason, so some old games are imported but not all... I can repeat this (play a game, get into the explorer and wait 30 mins for it to load more games and repeat) but it seems very silly - this should be fixed, we are paying for it.

I am also having this problem and cant find a
solution for it anywhere
It looks like you have played about 3100 games and nearly 3000 are in the Game Explorer.
What's the problem?

I've got the same issue. There's only 220 of my games in the explorer. Is there any way to update this?

The explorer doesn't show 960 games or games less than 5|0 but you should have more than 220 games since you have over 300 rapid games.
You should write to support@chess.com to see if they figure it out but it seems like missing games in the explorer has been an issue on this site for years.

I wrote to support and got a pretty fast reply and since more and more of my games were slowly appear in the explorer, and now I guess I have most of them in the explorer, though as mentioned above, it seems that some games will never be there if they are too short, too old, or in some specific different variants or time controls. The number of games never matches the game archive number for me, but it is very close so it makes sense that I have some games that were abandoned in the first 2 moves, or some 960 games that could make up for the difference (though I think not only those).
I would recommend talking to support and tell them you want to use this feature frequently, as I think chess.com does some storage optimization and does not import games to the explorer for users that very rarely use it.

Oh and BTW I have many blitz and even bullet games in my explorer, so that 5|0 thing mentioned earlier is simply false, or the rule is about an even shorter time control

I think the process was changed at one point and the article was never updated. I asked staff to take a look and update the articles.

I also have this issue. I've seen many forums asking about this.
I think it's time to make plans to switch to the other website

I have the same issue, I played 850 games, and 126 recent games are missing. Already wrote to support but they told me that it is a known issue and that's it but I don't think it's fair since we are paying 15 bucks a month for that

I find it super frustrating that the chess.com "coach" will say I've played a particular opening roughly 400 times and then when I check explorer there are only about half as many. How do I know what to trust when the stats look completely different when given in the two different locations.

This problem is ongoing. I just wrote them about it again and we'll see what they say.
There's a known issue and staff are aware.
When you go to explorer and select “My Games” there is an option to also down select what type as in ‘Rapid’, ‘Blitz’ or ‘Bullet’ so as for only indexing 5/0 games or higher that seems incorrect. It should index all games regardless of whether it was played with short time control or long. Or whether it was a short game or long. Especially when looking at your own games.
