Hello,
My premium (gold) membership ended last week ; since then, I have been noticing something odd in my daily games. The opening explorer feature seems not to work past the first few moves. For example :
This is the classical variation of the Caro-Kann Defense. The opening explorer tells me there are no games in the database that match this position. We are only 4 moves in. When I click the link to the opening database, I see many games where this opening was used, but it tells me I need to upgrade to premium for full access to these games and the rest of the database. Is this new ? I nearly exclusively play daily chess, so this is a bit disappointing to see, I use the database very frequently so it puts me at a significant opening disadvantage to other premium members.
If I don't have access to the database, is it counted as cheating if I use another opening database ?
Thanks in advance,
Wally
Explorer access has always been limited to 4 moves I think for basic members.
But you can use other opening databases, as long as they don't include engine evaluations.
