I suspect you have a major bug somewhere.

I am finding that if I start a game while I am disconnected the game plays, but if I happen to close the browser then any record of the game disappears.

If you're playing live games then they'll write to the archive unless it abandons.

If you're playing bot games, then they don't save unless you run a game review or manually save them.

Playing live games. The game is completely wiped from my history if I abandon. That is not typical. These are not games that I did not start. These are games I played and abandoned. I can do this without consequence. So I'm in a losing position -- blundered my queen, and I abandon the game, doesn't matter because there is no history of the game having existed.

I see losses by abandonment on your account, with one from yesterday.

Yes, I was testing to see if I was right. There are many more abandoned games that do not appear in my game list.

Copy the game urls when you get an abandonment and post them if they don't show in your archive.
