Player vs. Computer

As you know, the online computer opponent at chess.com has levels rated ~400, ~800, ~1200, ~1600, and 2000+. What does the plus sign mean? How could I use these games to estimate my playing ability?

2000+ means a rating level 2000 or higher. Those numbers are used to decide what level you'd like the computer at.  All players start out at a 1200 rating on the site, so maybe you'd be interested in trying that out first :)

Yes, I was thinking the same thing, but I thought it was strange that the last level had a plus. In other words, ~1600 should also be 1600+ (that is, from 1600 to 2000) or 2000+ should be ~2000, just to be consistent. What I'm trying to say is: if you are putting a plus after 2000, then maybe it's playing at 2200 or maybe 2400 or maybe at the level of the chess program Houdini. Who knows?
