Is that offensive? Doesn't seem like he's mocking Jesus to me.

What exactly offends you about it ? Some of the faithful go around with that image on their T-shirts ! Is that offensive ?

I'm a Christian and I don't find that offensive at all. Are you worried that if you beat him you will, in a sense, be beating Jesus at chess?

Well, that's like fighting against your Lord, guys..
In my opinion usage of such avatars is at least unfair.

In OTB matches thier are many ways to distact your opponent. Im not saying its ethical but it happens. Considering this is online you have alot of ways to block out your opponents image. IMO though, I don't think he is mocking or being offensive at all. Looks like reverence to me. ~peace

He's identifying himself with a Lord, isn't he?
It's just an avatar.
You do know that I'm not really a dog, right?

I'm not a shape-shifting brain last I checked. His picture only seems offensive because you imagine it to be. He is likely one who shares your view; be fortunate he is not using it to spit in your face.

[shrug] Has nobody noticed that the user name is offensive?
I googled the name when the thread started. It might be a common enough name in Germany, I don't know.

The user has entered a 'real' name in his profile, so his username is supposed to tell us something.
I am really offended in my best feelings that there is no limitation on what picture each individual can use as an avatar. Just imagine, how can I play against the player http://www.chess.com/tournaments/player_summary?id=37672&member=Reinhard_Heydrich if Jesus Christ is my God?
