hi

yeah I know chess and cheating is a super common "problem" so I was wondering where can I let support know there is a player using engines... so they can get a warning..

where and how??  thanks

Vertwitch

look, like....I play around 1000's so we all legit 1000's make mistakes all the time. and u can see the opponent making them, and u can see yourself doing mistakes too. but then u get to play vs a random player that doesn't make any mistake,...like any...finds all the critical moves , outposts for the knights, fastest route to mates, etc

so, they can be spotted ... ut then...how do we help ? ty

1st of all, you can't possible KNOW when a player is using an engine, but you can SUSPECT that he or she is. Chess.com will take your suspicions, along w/any other reports by other members that you can't possibly be aware of.... and compare them TO an engine. I won't tell you WHERE to report as you have been here since 2009.

We've had THOUSANDS of threads on how to report.....and my opponent is using an engine in 9 yrs. I just thought he was a new guy.

hi, you 2 guys. thanks for replying. yes it's not possible to know because ratings do not tell the whole story so there is always a chance that there is actually a player that knows how to play the game at a level where he doesn't make notorious mistakes. and I know it's a little bit ridiculous to worry about users with an engine on games on the internet that are not important, even Grandmasters make mistakes you just need to go to a stream and see them making errors and mistakes dropping pieces left and right, so it's very rare to see a player that does everything so well it's beautiful to watch them moving the pieces. I mostly use my cellphone so it seems I cannot send a report but still , I don't even know if I want to report now, lol. like, to make somebody work researching a random person , like... I care about the culture of clean play specially in professional tourneys.

No need to apologize, Ronald! I'm not against posting questions on the forum. But come on, we have the internet. Before creating any threads you should do some research and then if you can't find anything ask your question.

First try, then ask. We don't have a problem with you, eaglejorge. I just think that you would benefit from choosing the approach described above.

the truth is that what they say about players rated below 1800 that they are doing blunders every game, is a huge lie.

I play games around 1000 and sometimes, my opponents do flawless games. Initially and especially while I am playing, I am thinking that what I am experiencing is impossible. Then, I am thinking that they are probably cheating and at the end, I just accept that they just played a really good game. It happens. Players, at low rates are obsessed with the opening and thus, they can get the first 5-10 moves right most of the time. Then, if you play a standard game, since many of them have played hundreds of games, if not thousands, they will get the next few moves right too and if they don't feel good pressure and playing well, it is very possible to have a flawless game. The thing is that they are inconsistent and aren't good at end games. Higher rated players are just much more consistent and are much better at endgames.

Also, it is possible that an account is used from more than one person.

Here is what I don’t get: if someone is cheating and actually using an engine to play their chess for them; shouldn’t they be playing at least at a 2200 level? I mean it really cracks me up when low rated players accuse their opponents (who are also low rated) of cheating, because if I used an engine I would want to be playing at the same level as Magnus and Hikaru. Just saying🤷🏻‍♂️

not from the cellphone

I reported 2 cases, after the first report no reaction of chess.com.

In the post below i deleted the names.

Just to show that chess.com is not as efficient in treating cheating as I would wish ...

second time i want to report cheating.
player in question wins ALL his slow games, rated 1900 + his tactics however is 1801 all time max. This is not consistent with winning ALL his games.

Have earlier reported another player outplaying me AFTER I won a rook, his tactics score after thousands of exercises is 1200. looking into his tactics in detail shows that that player often cannot solve exercises with lower than 1200 difficulty ....

Never got any feedback after the first note acknowledging reception.

The saving moves were really so hard to find that I did not see them ( I am a legit 1900 + player )

I just noticed a player in a slow tournament.

1) His account is 1 day old.

2) His rating is +2300.

3) Prior to the tournament he played 11 slow games against the same opponent. All 1 move all in favour of him.

4) The above mentioned opponent has a handle very similar to himself and is from the same country.

5) The above mentioned opponent account is 2 days old and obtained the rating in a similar fashion.

6) When playing against o

@its_only_me I'd highly recommend joining the Cheating Discussion club at https://www.chess.com/club/cheating-forum and asking them to verify your analysis, because the description of your analysis sounds like it's not a very reliable cheat detection method.

@mineriva That sounds like the sort of case that would be actionable, but the correct process is to report it via Help --> Report Abuse --> Contact

Posting in the spam reporting thread is not the correct process.

Any detailed discussion of cheating must take place in private clubs such as the cheating discussion forum and not in the public forums, so I am now locking this thread.
