Private message disappeared?

Hi Natalie, sorry to hear about yr issue of harassment. What name or avatar was this from? All I can do is block them if they are on my friends list or a player in one of the tournaments I am in. Other than that it must be up to chess.com
Sorry I can't help further as I am not a chess hacker or programming expert; I just play chess. (I do hope no-one steals my avatar to do mischief?)
I presume you have messaged the same call to everyone in your club? I wish you well cheers from Australia.
Ps as a tip, perhaps replace yr pic with an avatar like I have. Then no-one knows if you are female or male attractive or other. => No hassles then. Just "havefunplayingchess"

Thanks! No - this doesn’t have to do with anyone in my clubs.
I was just wondering how someone makes a message thread disappear? It’s just gone.
And I absolutely do not agree that women should change their avatars to something neutral to ensure men behave themselves. Society is better than that. I also do not post any profile pics that are questionable of any nature...
thanks for your response though. 🤗

@Kenny721- the account is still there. I was able to pull it up by an opened window on my iPhone. The account is active. The chat is just gone. So weird.

It might might the person harnessed someone else and chess.com had removed any trace of them like notes ect

I was sexually harassed by another mouth breather Neanderthal this afternoon. When I went back a few hours later to send it back to chesscom, the whole message was gone from my messages list. The only way I was able to find the user again was by opening up a past browser on my iPhone and it was logged there.
Can people really drop vile messages and then just erase it??
That member was likely muted due to abuse. That makes all content hidden.

Yes. I believe there is a program for auto mute here that picks up key words, phrases or terminology matching their registry. It is automatic but I'm not sure if it's immediate or not

Oh sorry to hear that Natalie, stat safe.

Sorry to hear what happened to you, Natalie. Nevertheless, anyone have the answer to Natalie's question? Can users erase their own private messages (for the other person) in chess_com?
(I know that when they're banned their messages dissapear, but, when it's not that case, who can erase sb private message towards you?)

No, once you send a message to someone, you have no control over it.
