Rubbish connection

Hi,

Every time I play Live Chess I have appalling connections. Most of the time only one "bar" and that often drops to red and I get frequent lost connection popups. It's really frustrating.

I've tried various combos of the different Connection options, but nothing seems any better. What else can I try? I'm using Win 10 with a Chrome-based browser.

I'm not having connection problems on any other website or service.

Thanks!

Other websites take different paths from your connection and some sites may handle connectivity/lag differently.

Some ideas: https://support.chess.com/article/213-how-do-i-fix-my-disconnect-lag-issues

Though with increased traffic internet wide, there may only be so much you can do

Thanks, Martin, for the tips

Well, I've tried clearing the cache and various combos of different connection settings, plus I'm using a wired connection now. It's marginally better but I'm still getting constant disconnects. And other strange behaviour, like the interface saying I have "abandoned" the game when I never did. And other strange effects like the analysis board suddenly popping up mid-game.

It's very frustrating to use.

I wasn't trying to view web pages, I was playing Live Chess...

I mean I think it's a chesscom in general thing,   like when I switch forum tabs or change daily games or whatever I get a lot of delays and error pages with a goat saying sorry our fault.    Stuff like that.   they make you use a whole separate browser to do live chess,  right?  it's probably even worse

The site is receiving increased traffic and the internet in general has increased .load. A lot of sites have issues and it isn't something specific about chess.com.  Until things go back to normal in the world, things will be slower than normal, though the site is working to lessen that as much as possible in the current environment.

I rarely get errors, even on the beta. There may be strings of them when updates are made, but those are usually fixed very quickly.

Update:

I am getting frequent disconnects each game, despite being on a wired connection. Now and then the Analysis Board just pops up out of the blue. Also sometimes the game claims I have "abandoned" the game when I have done no such thing. I have had a number of "WTF moments" due to erratic and quirky game behaviour. Equally annoying is when I think my opponent is taking ages to make a move, and when I reload the page I find that actually it was MY clock that was ticking down all along, despite me seeing his clock ticking!!! So I have lost bags of time on this glitch. This is a bloody poor show, chaps!! It's close to unusable for me, and I am paying an annual subscription for this Scheißerei!!

On no other website on the entire Internet am I having these problems.

Always gives me the loss on these disconnects. And only happens when I'm winning. Strange.

Played again tonight and once more regular disconnects and multiple times I found my clock had been counting down while the interface still showed my opponent's clock counting down. Total rubbish.

This has happened to me. My internet is very good. Sometimes it goes through a whole game disconnecting me and my opponent until it just breaks. Then I reload the page and it acts as if the game didn't happen.

If the game doesn't end up showing up at all, there was a server restart (or possibly crash). Those are different than disconnects and less common.

The issue seems to be global not just for you. I am also having it. I cannot even connect to Live Chess at this time. I think someone somewhere is doing some maintenance work so it's down for now. The thing is it happens too frequently like few times a week or month. That's not very great for the biggest chess website in the world. It's very frustrating that I cannot play chess now.

Live server crashed a few minutes ago.

This is happening too frequently. Every few weeks I lose games because the connection doesn't work. And it is not at my end. Everything else works just fine for the whole family.

^ same. Are you really a janitor?

I get the same issue regularly. Internet connection is fibre broadband super fast. This is a chess.com issue. I’ve had it on and off for more than a year. List dozens of games because of it!

What is happening today is not the same issue:
