Saving OTB games on Chess.com

Hi,

Is it possible to save OTB games on Chess.com?

I want to run my OTB games through the Analyser, and save the notes, so that I can learn what mistakes were made etc.

I found a way to download the PGN of an OTB game, but It would be great if I could access these collectively from Chess.com, ideally in a separate folder under completed games.

If there is no way to do this, I'll post this again in the 'suggestions' forum.

Thanks in advance.

You can use the Analysis board https://www.chess.com/analysis-board-editor to get a computer analysis of your game but there is no place on chess.com to store your over the board games.

However, all you have to do is to store the pgn with the analysis locally on your device. It is just a text file. Many programs like Arena can open them.

DUDE!!!!! You can't mention competitor sites on chess.com!

Hmm... I've been searching for any information on this exact same thing...  I'd love to have a personal library of my IRL games so that I can study them..   That should become a feature >.>

We plan to bring a way to save all your games to a database here soon. Sorry for the delay!

That would be fantastic to be able to do that, to keep a record and to be able to go over the games afterwards with others at the club, online.

welp, then what's the point of chessbase?

exactly

I found a way to record my OTB game on chess.com, though it wasn't ideal. I wrote a chess.com blog, a very short one, and there's the facility to put a chess game into that. Another OTB game that I played is stored on a thread, which again isn't ideal.

When Chess.com has this new database, will it be possible and easy to analyse the game in that database and look at variant lines? Will it be easy to share a link to that game with our friends and betters in chess for advice?

You have no idea how happy that makes me!   I'm so excited.   I'll have every game I play saved on here!

Have there been any updates on this potential feature of Chess.com? I know how to use the analysis tool and save the pgn files, but it would be great to have all games in one place (and I prefer Chess.com to Lichess, ICC, using ChessBase, etc.).

Just a thought, why not create a second ‘test’ account for yourself, login on two different browsers, play yourself vs ur test account as the otb game played out.

Then you can analyse the game on your account and all games vs the test player is your saved games?

Having multiple accounts is against the site's TOS.

I reckon they’d be ok with it whilst we wait for the proper feature -it’s not like your using the second account to gain an unfair advantage - it’s just to play out otb games and improve

DavidEricAshby

It's not necessary to have 2 accounts. If you want to analyse an OTB game on chess.com, it's already possible with just one account. If you go to a game that you have already played and enter game analysis, self analysis, then go back to move 1, then back to move 0. Now play the moves from your OTB game. As you play the moves, you can see the swings in the game. As the self analysis mode allows for looking at subvariations, you can go back and try out different lines. All of this is already possible with just one account.

humblebrit

Yes but you can’t save the game once your entered it - that’s the problem

humblebrit

Hence if you make a 2nd account and play the game out (unrated) - you will have a saved copy of the game

Thanks. The two account work around actually isn't a terrible idea. Not ideal, but it would work.

If you are a premium member, you can create a club, and then post your own games with analysis to a thread in the forum of that club.  It's true it won't be listed under "My Games," but you could divide the threads up by opening or event or whatever to make them easier to find.

The two account idea violates site rules and if you are found out, you could lose both.
