Hello I'm just wondering if any one would like to give me some advice on Square of chess set against DGT CHESS set as I'm very interested in buying one of these.  I would be very interested in everyone's option on this and would appreciate any advice and help with it thank you

These two chess set are very different. The DGT chess set is much more expensive, but the quality of the chess pieces and chess board is also a lot better. The SquareOff chess set has one unique feature: it can move the pieces on the board with some kind of magnetic field, while on the DGT chess you will have to move all the pieces yourself. I would describe the SquareOff chess set as a very nice toy, but would recommend the DGT chess set for the more serious chesswork.

DGT offers various e-boards for different prices. For instance, I see a wooden e-board with wooden e-pieces for €459 on newinchess.com. This is probably the least expensive one and uses a USB connection and does not include the optional DGT 3000 clock for €90. The most expensive e-board with handmade ebony pieces is €674. Several other options are available in between. There is also a plastic version for €337, but I have never seen this in real life.

In comparison, SquareOff offers two versions for $329 (~€283) and $399 (~€343). I haven't compared the shipping costs, which will probably depend on where you live.

On the software side, I have been told that SquareOff already supports chess.com, while for DGT this is still in the works.

One final remark: it is not immediately apparent from the pictures on the respective websites, but the DGT board and pieces are significantly larger than the SquareOff board and pieces. For instance, the king's heights are 3.75 inch versus 2.5 inch.

Anyway, good luck with your choice and let us know what you decided.
