Everything was fine this morning......then.....
This just started happening now. All of a sudden in the game page and even in the self analysis page I can't scroll right to the bottom of the page to access all the functions at the bottom. As I get to the bottom it keeps on jumping upwards, downwards, upwards. The move/navigation bar also jumps up and down as one gets to the bottom and won't anchor in the right place either. I am thus unable to get to the bottom of the page!!! As I get to the bottom, the page just jumps up and the navigation bar also acts erratically.
I am using a Samsung Note 5 using Android 5.1.1. I am using Chrome for Android, but I also tested Firefox for Android and it does the exact same thing.

So now I can't get to any of the functions that are right at the bottom. I am playing a game where takebacks are in effect. I can't even get to the take back function!!!!

Anyone else having this issue using an Android phone?

I have a screen video of it.  It shows the problem PERFECTLY.

You can post a link to the video, I use screencast.com, Some others are youtube, vimeo. Or use the Insert/Edit media function. Though only Youtube videos seem problem free when inserting media. See discussion in https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/how-to-put-videos

@jas0501 hi there happy.png

I tried adding it to my You tube account as a video in my library. I made it available as "public" in the privacy settings for the video. Then I clicked on share and chose share link. I posted a link here and tested and it just kept on saying "video unavailable". I couldn't even play it in my own account. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

I haven't uploaded to youtube. Maybe there is some sort of delay for "review" before it goes live.

Instead of share try typing the url in the Insert/Edit Media window, between smiley face and B on the menubar

Have you tried clearing your cache?

flashlight002

@Martin_Stahl yes I cleared my cache. One of the first things I tried. I even logged off then on again. I tested it on Chrome for Android and on Firefox for Android. Only started this afternoon (South African time).

Martin_Stahl

I have had that problem in the past but not now. Though, I'm in beta so I guess it is possible the regular site is having the issue.

@Martin_Stahl here is a link to a screen video of the issue:

Yeah, that is pretty much the behavior I was seeing when it happened before. You might want to open a ticket and a link to include that, device type and browser version.

Hi Martin not following you. Are you saying you have seen this behaviour before?

I have sent a ticket now with a full explanation and the video straight to membersupport@chess.com for action.

Martin_Stahl

Yes, I had it happen a month ago maybe, on my old device. I'll have to see if I can figure out exactly when. I seem to recall another poster was seeing it too and I bug reported it.

@Martin_Stahl I sent a ticket to support but they say they can't duplicate the issue, which is very strange as my phone is a Samsung Note 5 running Android 5.1.1. So it's not an old system as far as operating systems or phones go. And it MUST have been something the dev guys did to the game page layout or floating nav bar functionality yesterday, because that's when this suddenly happened. Now I can't access any of the functions at the bottom of the page. I have a game where takebacks are enabled. I can't even get to the takebacks function!!!

What also I can't understand is how badly this site is maintained and built for use on a smart phone. World wide stats show that smart phone usage for surfing the web is far outstripping desktop/mobile use. Hell even my bank's website (which is highly complex) works perfectly on mobile web browsers. Yet the chess.com site when viewed on a mobile browser has many many bugs, and each week more are added to the list...this one being the most serious to date.

Martin_Stahl

I do 95% of my browsing on my devices and have had very few issues, and most of them get fixed pretty quickly when they crop up. There are some things where desktop mode is required.

I was wrong about the previous issue I saw. It was actually the opposite and the screen would slowly float down and you wouldn't be able to access the top of the page. That was 3-4 weeks ago but was resolved in a little over a week from when it started.

I'll have to see about accessing the site on my old device and see if it has any issues.

@Martin_Stahl I am happy to ignore the small bugs...but the one I have reported here is not a small one. I have made contact with Support staff who, as you say are very friendly and helpful. Tablet use seems to be better. It's when I use my Android phone (Samsung Note 5) where all the problems start happening
