Timer

My opponent are losing the game on time, but  the timer  keeps extending their time. How can I prevent this from happening. We are playing games with the timer set at 15 minutes

You are not playing simple 15 minute games.

php2DCzpf.png You are playing 15 10 games, which means each side starts with 15 minutes and then gets 10 seconds added for every move they make.

When you played a 55 move game, each side got 9 minutes and 10 seconds added to their clock.

Ok,  thank you for your response.

In my case, the opponent game time never expires, and gets locked at the 5 minute point and just sits there for days. My vacation setting are not enabled so what is going on???

WIthout seeing the game, it's tough to know but I would guess... that your opponent has gone on vacation.

You can't enable or disable your opponent's right to go on vacation. There are "no vacation" tournaments but vacation is something that all members can take advantage of.

The other possibility, which Martin Stahl already gave you in a previous thread, is that you don't have your settings set to automatically claim wins in time forfeits.

Thanks for responding but as I mentioned previously, I do not have the screen you shared with me re: "settings/daily chess". All I have is a few "on off" options on my screen. Perhaps I have an older version of chess.com or something. I can keep looking around or maybe I am just missing something basic. Anyway, thank you for your help.

At the bottom of every page, "Try the new Chess.com!"

Okay I got it. The app on my iPad doesn't have it, but the main site on the web had the full screen and I was able to change it there.
