Timer problems.

Hi, i want to know if this is common.

I play 2 min chess, and more and more often i run into the same problems. For example am i playing against someone who has got 5 sec left on the clock, while i still got 20.

Then they dont make a move and their clock runs out.

The game then freezez and suddenly the game tells me that i lost on time, and their timer now all of a sudden says 3,2 while mine says 0.

Anyone else noticed this? For me it is a huge issue.

I had the same problem, its the connection of 1 of the 2 players.

Hi MartinMrak,

It seems you are experiencing lag. To learn more about this, please check out the following links.

Kansha, these links do not work. I am very much pissed with this problem. How come the  lag is always in the last few seconds left? If the problem persists I will move to other websites. It is really frustrating to lose winning games regularly.

Same happens to me! I was playing a 10 mins game. My opponent stopped at 8th min and I waited for 8 mins and he got timed out but I lost

I have lost almost 15 games Bcoz of time is showing my opponent turn while i played already.

KInda makes you wonder how it's not fixed in more than 2 years, doesn't it?

Same problem here.

I think the clock favors the player with a higher score.  If you pay attention, most of the time when your clock runs out, the other player has a higher score than you do.  I also think chess.com collects statistics on all players and games and favors the better player who had a better record.

with that said, there are a lot of people who also cheat on the clock and should be reported.  I reported many people and got my score back and got them in trouble.  So there is more than one thing involved here.

The site does not show favoritism and the official clocks are kept by the server process, so in order to hack the clocks, the site would have to be hacked.

Clock issues seen are down to lag, lag compensation and disconnects.

Same with me. I am losing because of chess.com clock. No advised links open . Real frustration.

Too common. I get that all the time.

And I also get "it's your connection, pre-moves, lag and all the stuff that can go wrong locally.

It's becoming very clear it's happening to everybody (and didn't happen before) but it is still a problem you have, not the platform's or the way the pipes are connected... 🙄

In one game, I had just made my move, but my clock was still going. luckily, my opponent offered a draw when they saw the problem.

In another game, after I made my move, my opponent's clock just stopped. I was winning, but literally nothing happened.
