I’ve been experiencing that error on a sporadic, but very frequent basis for several weeks now on my iPhone app.
It’s even more annoying as failing on a puzzle, exploring the solution and then getting praised by the avatar the same way as if I had actually solved it.
It’s a pretty bad experience.

Log out, delete the app, reinstall and log back in. Seems to have solved it for me.

Followed your advice. No errors for about a week, now they're back - so either there still is a bug in the current version of the app or it's a server issue (or both).
Was told they already knew about it and were working on a fix, but reading other posts I’m not too sure now…
