Using fairy pieces in custom games?

Currently, by going to Variants -> Custom, -> XL, I can play with new pieces like the Amazon, the Chancellor, etc. However, I can't figure out how to play with the pieces that are in the game, but not included in the actual setup. For example, the only way I can get the Grasshopper(a very wacky piece) is to set the promotion rules so that a pawn always promotes to a Grassopper.

Is there really no other way to play with these pieces? I also can't figure out how to set up the starting pieces differently in a Variant Custom game.

is there any way to use fairy peices against bots?

I think the variants server has some bot type players, but the site doesn't have analysis engines that support variants.l, other than 960

I don't think so.

to get grasshopper you can press edit position scroll down and it will show the fen. if you want to replace a pawn with a grasshopper you just find rP or yP and replace it with rG or yG. after that click load.
