Variants and tournaments on the iPad app?

For some reason I can't seem to figure how to play variants other than 960 in live chess on the iPad app or how to play in tournaments. When making a custom challenge I can only toggle between standard and 960 and I can't find the tournament tab anywhere. Tips?

The app doesn't currently support any variants other than 960. The iOS app doesn't currently support tournaments.
Do you know if chess.com plans on changing this? I can play in my browser, but I prefer the feel of the app.

My guess is yes, though know for sure on variants. Android has tournaments so I would image iOS will eventually add them.
I wish iOS will add variants of chess to chess.com
