A live chess moderator is a volunteer who spends his time serving the chess.com community, making sure that members like you are happy.

A live chess moderator is someone who answers your questions, helps you with your problems, has a listening ear, who removes the people from live chess who are mean to you, etc.

Basically, they are there to make sure you have the best experience possible on chess.com, all on a voluntary basis. So, next time you see one, make his/her day by saying "thank you" for all the hard volunteer work they do to make sure you are happy :-)

How do I know  that am a moderator

You're not a moderator. The site allows some members to become moderators and if that happened, you would have been invited or contacted in some other manner.
