When your opponent runs the clock down rather than resign

How am I supposed to end a game when my opponent runs the clock down rather than resign? He had obviously lost with 25 mins to go and offered me a draw which I declined.  Must have gotten into a huff at that and refused to play his turn.

Is there any way to end the game with a win without waiting for him to be timed out?

No. You can resign or wait.

In longer games play only "trusted" people. The issue of players abandoning is being addressed. Many players are losing open challenge priveleges.

Thanks for the info.  It drove me nuts, Whenever I have to leave a game I tend to apologise and resign, otherwise, as long as the guy who's beating me isn't dragging out his victory by trying to queen 4 pawns I tend to allow them the satisfaction of victory - unless the position is totally hopeless (which it sometimes is!) though the matching system tends to get me to a relatively late endgame.

Once again left hanging in the wind - this is ridiculous

Sounds familiar.  You just did the same to me.  Hypocrite.

Sorry, don't use threads much but I've never ever run a game down! Ever! There were a few games a while back which were cocked up by a bug in the app where pieces disappeared from the board and others where I made a move but the clock didn't change over. Perhaps it was one of those times, or perhaps I had to change my baby's nappy! But when that happens I would normally resign and bow to the inevitable noxious whiffs of failure!
