Yes Their servers are very bad since 2011 I know this site from about about 20 years ,
when there was a main chat room.

They keep restarting the servers and give users warrning "server will restart after 1 minute" like something big is gonna happened.
And Yet The problem is still!
it is really very frustrating. I stop playing chess now. after 20 years of begin on this site, moving to another one, this is my last message.
Restarting ( Leaving ) the servers after one 10 minutes.

The site started in 2007. Live games came later, so it hasn't been 20 years yet.

Martin Stahl has been the go to guy for diffusing server issues and providing great information on how to clear your internet cache and clear cookies. In this months excuse we are provided that chess.com servers are in a different area and might not connect well.

I travel for work and I'm frequently in different cities with various internet connection speeds. Heck, I even played chess from a city office on their heavy duty internet that provides tons of time specific real time data and still experiences issues. Yes Martin, even on different computers.

Nothing will ever change. Marin suggesting that ADS are what is interfering with my connection is comical and is a subtle way of suggesting that users pay to use this janky site.

I hate the Lichess setup, but at this point it's clear that only the excuses will change. Switching now and I'll make adjustments.

Maybe one GM on a youtube stream disconnects and this issue gets popular and perhaps resolved. Until then it's just too frustrating to play with daily disconnects.

whats going on on this server ?

Right now? There is a global issue that has caused a spike in internet traffic in general and that holds for most entertainment sites as well. With increased traffic in general, your traffic from your client to the chess.com server is competing with other traffic on the internet, so the farther you are from the site's Live server (how many pieces of equipment you have to travel through) the more latency you are likely to see and the more chances to have issues with connectivity.

Add to that, there are advertisements, which may introduce lag.

There are some things you can do to minimize issues on your end.

You won't be able to solve all the issues, especially now that traffic is so much higher but it can help. I played yesterday on my cell phone, using the mobile website (not app) and didn't have any issues with either of the two events I played in.

I use chrome, and its still like that in December 2023

The number of times I've tried to play games with my buds or tried to watch their games without successfully being able to is ridiculous. You guys got thousands of people paying for a membership, use that money to get someone that knows how to run severs properly. You can do it, I promise....

I don't think I've ever seen issues watching games and the vast majority of times I've had connection issues it's been with my devices and/or shared internet connection.

Found out there may be an issue watching games for members on your friends list.

People need to stop blaming the users. Server capacity is simply too low. I pay for the support, like I do for Lichess. It does not grant me the privilege to whine about suff I could fix myself, but the lag is just extremely annoying. Pls chess.com, use a bit more of your money for more bandwith.

They are lazy and just want money, I sent chess.com like 500 emails and none of them responded. I'm gonna quit chess.com and move on to lichess. And also this is my second account not my main

You have to use the Help option in the menu to contact Support now.

Same thing every 3 to 4 days I disconnect AND they NEVER REFUND my RATING. So stupid. Can more people respond it is good for me to hear what is going on

Unless there is a site wide issue or one where there's a sever error disconnecting a lot of members in a short time frame, point refunds are not done.

The vast majority of disconnects are due to issues outside the site control and not due to sever issues.

There are things that can be done client side to minimize connection issues, though it can't solve everything.

Bruh that is so weird. Sometimes I think some of the rules are in place because they do not ever want people to complain that chess.com is bad. Also I have proof. Yay!

FelixN2022

Those articles did not help a single bit which is weird but anyways I don’t think you should copy what I wrote without my consent because I wrote for several minutes and then you copied my post in less than 1 minute this should not happen. Also you need my consent before you copy my post. Right now I am not happy because you copied my post when I did all the hard work and all you had to do is copy my work and write a response. Also I never copied your work without your consent so why are you coping my work without my consent?

I have already disconnected like 10 times today and probably lost tons of elo which is of course never going to be refunded due to these policies which are trying to say that the bad connection is your problem when in reality it is they’re fault of course it is going to happen because they are going to lie to you when you want the truth all day long it doesn’t matter of course this is so bad I just want to do my project so I have to collect information. It is chess.com who made the connection so bad because when I play on other websites it never lags so badly this is obviously chess.com’s fault and they are not admitting it because they don’t want to lose money it is obviously a for profit company which wastes your time. My day is ruined because of chess.com. Seriously I would blame chess.com for the faulty internet because it is chess.com. I already have enough evidence to put the blame on chess.com. Also if somebody doesn’t want their post being quoted then respect that. I don’t want my post to be quoted so don’t quote it. It is simple enough.

FelixN2022

The site actually started in 2005.
