Accuracy Concerns

Due to Covid restriction, I have returned to playing chess. Rapid and OTB is 1700-1800 so nothing special, just an club player. Puzzle rating is 2240 and rising which doesn't match.

I have regularly had games with accuracy of 98+% which I was pleased with but I am beginning to worry that I may get wrongly banned for cheating. Do other similar strength players see the same accuracy?

it is easy to get 95+ accuracy if your opponent plays bad moves. at least this is my experience at 1500 rating.

I would like to look through a similar strength player's games if they always analyse to see how they compare. Most of my opponents don't seem to.

98+% seems like Grandmaster territory which I am definitely nowhere near.

i think it is relative. if you played against a grandmaster they would play very tricky moves and you might even blunder and get much less than 98 percent. since you are playing players of roughly your own level there will be variance where sometimes they play terribly and it is easy to play what the computer considers to be the "best move" thus increasing your accuracy percentage.

I have since watched Danny's video explaining that accuracy is a 'fun' feature not to be taken too seriously and plays no part in cheat detection.

I always like to look at it for every game and am relieved that it does not suggest cheating. Previously, if I lost to a player with a very high accuracy, I would have assumed that it was a cheater which doesn't bother me unduly because all losses are illustrative - although I think that anyone cheating would be higher rated than me happy.png

There is really no need to worry as long as you are not cheating. High accuracy doesn't mean that your game looks like an engine game and AFAIU chess.com is using sophisticated tools for cheat detection - they aren't just looking at your accuracy. Accuracy also very much depends on your playing style. For example, I regularly play a Scandi main line where good moves are just obvious and I often get 97%+ accuracy then. If I played the Najdorf, things would look different.

High accuracy doesn't mean your cheating... I mean i've gotten 99.2 and 99.6 before, and im in the 300-400 range... do NOT trust accuracy tongue.png

I'm kind of having a similar issue. I need help fixing my accuracy and just need things explained. On my own within only 2-3 weeks I'm already 1400 puzzle rated and 23 survival with my best solve a 1600 rated puzzle. I haven't even hit my cap yet I'm still rising rapidly in puzzles. They're very easy. Here's the kicker though. I'm only 300 blitz and classic. Why are people so hard but computers easy even at 1700 rated. How come I can't implement my intelligence and ideas?
