Chess.com's Ridiculous Algorithm

My opponent settings are set to 50 lower or any higher rated opponent.  My all-time record for most consecutive lower ranked opponents is 17.......flirting with that today.  Ridiculous.

Sadly, this isn't purely due to the chess.com algorithm - rather it is your rating. 2000+ rating isn't nearly as common as say 1200 rating, so there are obviously less 2000 rated players for you to play against. Chess.com simply pairs you with someone "close enough" to avoid really long wait times. A friend of mine (I'll keep nameless as I didn't ask their permission to mention) has the same problem since they are rated circa 2400. A lot of strong chess players don't play that often for this very reason - you are playing weaker competition a lot: just another reason that getting a high rating is tougher at higher levels.

I'd recommend finding some chess.com "friends" around your rating or slightly higher and then set up some games or an agreed "match" number of games. This way you can play and then know that this opponent will be around for a rematch instead of waiting for the computer to pair you against someone else who is probably lower rated.
