Clock help, please!

On Live chess, I typically play with a 30|0 timer. Today I lost 6-10 games on time that I had won (the checkmate was inevitable, barring a blunder). I just get so focused in on the flow of the game, calculating moves and looking for opportunities, I tend to forget that I have to pay attention to the clock. The timer doesn't make any sound to remind me until there's only 30 or 60 seconds left. I need more warning!

Ideally, I would use a clock that beeps every, say, 5 minutes, and at under 10 mins a double beep every minute. But since chess.com doesn't offer that, does this happen to anyone else? Does anybody have any tips that might help me?

Edit: I just discovered that there is a 45|45 time setting on the desktop, but I usually play on my phone, where 30|0 is the longest live option listed. If I were to create a custom 30|15 game, would finding people to play be difficult, since most players just use the default options?

I don't think I've seen real chess clocks that beep in a tournament game to warn you to play faster either.

You just have to learn to keep an eye on it.

I run into time trouble a lot myself, so I am sympathetic. One thing that might be helpful is doing a lot of tactics problems, so that you learn to recognize typical mating patterns more quickly.
