HI,

I iam disconected while playing live chess, why i am being lost the game, even though i was winning . It is problem from internet service provieders.

It should not be consider as lost.Unless it should be an resing or a draw.

Hello arshu191. For now when you are disconnected during the Live Chess it is considered a forfeit even if it was not intentional. However, we are in the process of working on an adjudication system so that disconnected games may not be automatically forfeited. We are also working very hard on a new version of Live Chess which should be more stable and provide a better connection for most players.

When is this new version expected to be out as this has happened to me quite a few times as well.

There is a BIG MESSAGE about live chess being in beta testing right?  And that DISCONNECTS and other such things happening correct?

to be honest if this rule happened i will never have a lost..

its called unplugging your cable modem or shutting down your computer to disconnect.. people will use this to not lose.

Causes even more complaints.

In an attempt to make things as simple as possible a suggestion:  The original players of a game abandonded by one participant due to disconnection can agree by mutual consent to continue that game from its final position.   That could be programmed in half a day.

Also for players being disconnected continually - it may be your firewall.  You may have to disable it during live games.

Here's how the reconnect feature should work, imo:

A player gets disconnected.  He goes to his live chess standings and sees his last game is a loss.  He clicks on it to bring up the game page.  On the game page is a new feature:  a button labelled "reconnect".  He hits it.  The other player can do the same in his own browser, but if he has not yet done so, the first player will see a prompt, "Waiting on opponent..." after he hits the reconnect button.  Once both players hit the reconnect button, the game begins again in live chess from the last position.  (The DB is also updated to remove the won/loss.)  The reconnect button for a game could of course be disabled after a period of time.

For all the people that complain about this, it should have been fixed several months ago.  It  justifies its own special release.  There is no call to bundle it with a whole bunch of other minor fixes and minutiae.  Just fix it, test it, release it and be done with it.  What on earth are the technical hurdles here - there are none.

F.I.C.S.server is open source, any one is free to use it, it works without bugs, it is a free download,it has many free graphical user interfaces, for the customer side, that work with it,why don't they just use that for live chess?

ruffian1 - I wouldn't say they should replace their entire server at this point because of this one minor needed enhancement.  Especially if it entailed changing the entire interface,  as the one they have now is pretty distinctive.  But to start a game in live chess with some preexisting board configuration - how hard would that be?  Some developers at chess.com are incompetent or someone's overthinking it or something.

They tried that several months ago.  It didn't work as planned.  It was then that they realized that they needed to completely scrap live chess as it is and redesign/recode it in its entirety.  As I understand it, this feature you request will be in the new version, but it will still take some months before it is ready.  Last official word I heard is that we are looking at late-August, if everything goes well.
