Help me organize a chess team tournament

Hello, I was tasked with the burden of organizing a kind of tournament for my office.

We have 8 divisions, and up to 4 players per division.

What's the best format/system to use to determine the best team(division) for this event?

Are you going to play over the board or online?

If you are playing online, you could make clubs for each division of your company and only let company staff join. (You could be a super-admin for each so that you can help them.)

They you could use one of the preset online team match formats.

/  I see you haven't played any games online here.   It might make it a lot simpler for you if you played some games and tournaments here to see how they work.

Sorry I didn't mention this. It would be over the board.

Well, there are a lot of things to think about.   You haven't said if you all work together at the same place or if different divisions are scattered far and wide.  Do you have an employee cafeteria or some place where you can meet?

Do you have chess equipment (sets, boards and clocks) or will you need to buy it?  You can buy plastic tournament sized chess sets and boards pretty cheaply.   Clocks are a little more expensive.  Even if you plan to play with a short time control, clocks are very useful to keep things going on a schedule if you have more than one round in a day.

8 teams of 4 players each, means 7 rounds of play.

Use the Berger table
