How come I can only move my knight and pawn

I can only move the knight and pawn when I'm not playing a game.

Why is that?

U mean on the analysis board, to take the first move?

Good morning, Emily.

On the first move, only the pawns and knights can move.  The pawns have no pieces in front of them and can move one or two space forward on their first move.  Knights are the only pieces that can jump over pieces and therefore can jump over the pawns on the first move.  The rest of the pieces need empty spaces to move across and into.

Words fail me.

Excellent. Glad your problem is solved

I know what you mean. Does the chess board also change colors when you do it? It lets you move all the pawns and all of the knights, and even pawns past the knights like they can jump. So you can play all of the possible first moves on the board. Is that what you mean?
