I'm stuck at 1600

I'm surely evolving but I somehow cannot seem to reach the 1700 rating which lifts this question: How come? (I've been at 1600 for a good while)

I mean, I'm at least trying to analyze every singel game that i play and realizing my weaknesses aswell as my better sides. But even that cannot seem to help.

I'm now simply asking these two questions: could someone share their experiance regarding a similar topic and hopefully share some tips and tricks? And the second quesion would be, is there a chess player that have currently 2000 rating points that could add me and play a couple of games in order to address my blunders. Just want to mention the fact that i've stayed at 1600 for a good while, (the one who helps is doing Nothing but growing)

You rose from below 1000 at the end of 2016. You just passed 1600 last month.

You have not been stuck for a long time.

Come back in a couple of years and tell people you are stuck.

6,000 5-minute blitz games in 6 months?That is a  lot.

Meanwhile what are you doing to learn? 

Looking at your stats, it appears you could benefit from working more and longer on tactics. The last five problems you got wrong, you made up your mind quickly. It appears you are just guessing.

Your time getting the problems wrong was well below the average reported on the problem.

You rarely spend a little longer time than the average.

Why not play some slow chess and give yourself a chance to think things through?

Are you talking about bullet or blitz?

 I'll definitely consider doing that, don't get me wrong, i do read books regarding chess. Coming from a player rated +2000 do did you  surpass 1600 by reading books and playing way slower games? 

I started playing chess at age 19 and was about 1450 USCF almost immediately. 50 chess books and 30 years later, I am still only 1650 USCF. Who cares though?  Do you like playing?

Im not a great chess player by any standard, but i looked at like 10 of your recent blitz games (just briefly and without an engine) and heres what stood out to me: 

1. You make unnecessary pawn weaknesses and holes in your position. (I recommend you watch this Chessnetwork video on holes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKUG7qm4ZkM)

 

2. You go out of your way to create an attack against a perfectly safe king, when the position does not indicate that such an attack has any merit. Sure it can sometimes work in blitz, but theres other ways (often easier ways) to win a chess game that you seem to ignore.

3. Above all, like all 1600 players, you make 1 move blunders.
Most of the games i saw were not lost because of the positional ideas i mentioned, but rather simple lack of board vision. Hanging pieces, checkmate in 1, not taking free pieces etc... 

Work on tactics, tactics, some tactics, and then some more tactics.


Again, im no chess coach and 10 games isnt a real sample, so take everything i said above with a grain of salt.

 

Or who cares about improving? It is not necessary if you just enjoy playing. 

at 1600 id say the most useful for you is to study tactics positional chess and especially the endgame. that will easily get you over 2000

Jean, you're probably better than me, but a 2300 player told me once, Stop Playing the Blitz games if you want to get better. (like a couple here have already said)  You've gotten about as good as you can get in blitz, but must play the long slow games, at least 30 mins per player, to learn more and deeper.  Yes, it's tough, you'll miss your crack cocaine of chess, the FAST games and will be super tempted to go back to them, but you must play the long slow ones.  THEN, that will spill over into all types of games.  That's IF, and a big IF, you really want to get better.  Some are satisfied where they are and really don't want to get better, or had rather not give up fast games to get better.   An aside, you may want to study Tal and Morphy's games and learn the art of the SACRIFICE.  Many players don't go further because they don't learn these 'breakthrough' type moves and they stagnate.  GM Williams has a good dvd out on learning to play like Tal, which will get you thinking in that mode, which can have a great impact on your game.   Good luck.  Let us know if you decided to give up the crack.  

Or just enjoy the crack.  There is no mandate to improve. Just enjoy chess. 

of course i love chess, I find this game to be very interesting. It was my older brother who had this game in mind for me. mamy years 'ive been rejecting this game claiming it to by only for older people. But boy what i had wrong   @jimmykay

Well thansk for that! many players they've told me the samething. work with slower game if you want to improve your thinking, so i appreciate you giving me that useful knowledge! very glad!
