Live Chess Bug

I use Firefox 3 on a high speed connection and I have had more than an amusing amount of games disconnect because I have lodged "too many" pre-moves.

This usually happens when I am running passed pawns up the board - not much thinking needed there.

I can only assume this is a bug in the program, not a fault in my set up or internet connection.I have pointed this out several times already on the seemingly fruitless chat on the live site.

Can this be fixed?

maybe because the computer you are using is not that good?

... I know live chess is still beta but have not had this problem on any other site - and it has been beta for a long time now as well!

It is in beta, and the reason that things don't seem to be changing much with the current Live Chess is that they aren't. As has been said many times on the site, we are working on a completely new version of Live Chess, it's gonna be great, just give us time. The current version just doesn't work for some people. We're sorry.

The same here... I use Firefox 3 with high speed cable broadband internet connection, which is stable (never get DC in another site - non chess site).

Even, the DC problems in Live Chess are getting worse and more frequent lately compared to several months ago..

Long and short of it. Lift your game guys, when people pay money they expect outcomes, you might note that all of the people responding negatively are paid up members so your flippant responses time after time to this issue don't really suffice.

Can you outline a time frame for moving to a complete, bug free version of the program or is that in "beta" as well? I am sure there are people who pay money on this site that don't pay money on other sites who have the same questions so be honest.

The best time frame I can give you is later this year. I don't want to give any dates, because the nature of programming and software development is such that there will almost certaily be unforseen problems. So, if it looks like we will have it done in "x" number of months, and something comes up, and its two months later before it's actually released, everyone will be even more upset that I (or anyone else on staff here) lied.

Also, it's taking us a while to come out with the new version becasue we are taking our time and getting it right. The last thing we want is to release this new version, then have it also not work.

As for paying members, we appreciate all of our paying members, but please, don't think you are paying for Live Chess. You aren't, our membership page doesn't make a single mention of Live Chess. We aren't asking people to pay for Live Chess because we know it's not working. I'm sorry, everyone on staff is sorry that what's out there doesn't work for so many people. But, I promise, we are working on a new version, and it will be worth the wait.

i have a suggestion about u guys that are wokring on live chess close live chess  for a week or more that way you can fix it faster and i bet a lot of people don't want to wait unitl the end of the year

Closing Live Chess won't make things go any faster. We already focusing all the time we can on the new version. We're a small company, we don't have unlimited resources. We're working as hard as we can on Live Chess, but we're going to make it right before we release it.
